I wrote this poem around 2am when I was really missing my friends back in Dubai.

if every part of me carried your memory,

i would never shed a tear,

i would never chip a nail,

i would never chop off a strand of hair,

i would hold onto every inch of myself,

to protect every inch of your memory,

i would hold the paper flowers, still blossoming with your scent,

close to my heart,

match it’s blossom to my heartbeat,

ensuring the flower of your memory never falls apart,

if every part of me held onto the feeling of your embrace

i would never lose an eyelash,

never pick a scab,

i would pray and hope the memory would stay, never pass,

if every inch of my body entrapped the feeling of your touch,

i would never slice open my skin again,

i would protect every cell alongside your touch,

for your love, embrace and touch, my skin,

id defend,

against the hate,

the pressure,

the insecurities,

the aggressors,

it every part of me carried your love,

i’d love every part of me,

the same way i’ve never stopped loving you.
