The Streets of Delhi on A monsoon Thursday morning,

On a monsoon morning, around 10:30 AM,

I heard the gentle pitter patter of the rain hitting against the surface of the car,

I peered out the window,

A woman in a sari with white flowers in her hair, looked towards her left before crossing the road,

The man with white hair sat at the bus stop on his phone,

And the young boy sat  right next to him,

The auto with ‘Om’ written on the yellow hood,

An orange, red and green bus parked in random sequence,

A fruit-seller riding a bike connected to a cart carrying his fruit,

And old couple I saw in a red car,

During a red light, when all the cars halted to a stop,

A lazy thursday, the streets empty,

A lady in a blue skirt, calling out for a taxi,

With eyebrows hedged over from the rain,

A man in a yellow shirt, looking out into the street with both fists on his waist,

And the four dogs running around on the edge of the road,

And the automan driving,

With his young son, around the age of 3, sitting on his lap,

And the golden retriever looking out the window of a gray car with its tongue falling out its mouth,

The young girl with her nose scrunched up against the window,

Everything and everyone were in place.

There’s something about Delhi monsoons that’s both frustrating and magical.

Ha, I liked the bit about people hopping puddles in their shoes. Only in Delhi, right? 😄
