Currently, it's summer. One of the hottest seen by Delhi NCR. I found an old piece I wrote and thought to share ...

Why do we continue to neglect our planet? To turn a blind eye towards the damage we have done? Why do we continue to listen to those who make excuses to do nothing? Why are we so caught up in our own doings to do something? Our planet is dying. You can ignore it but the thing about truth is that it can be denied but not avoided.

Remember the amazon rainforest? Yes, the same rainforest with millions of trees, all of them gorgeous. The same trees that provide us with the air we breathe, they clean up our carbon and pollution, they store and purify water, and they give us medicine that cures our diseases and, food that feeds us. It gives me great sorrow to say that these were the same trees we cut down, destroyed and burned. For what? (Hold up money) And yet we have the audacity to call this destruction, progress.

To hurt nature is to hurt us, to save nature is to save us. Because wWhatever you’re fighting for gender equality, feminism or poverty, gay rights, racism or any type of equality, it won’t matter because if we don’t all work together to save the environment, we’ll be equally extinct. Every minute, we lose 15 billion trees. At this rate, in a 100 years, our Earth will no longer have trees. I remember learning about the Native Americans, who believed that they were responsible for how they left the planet for the next 7 generations which is ironic because most of us today don’t even think about tomorrow.

But there’s still hope and time for change if we all come together and contribute. To hurt nature is to hurt us, to save nature is to save us. Plant a tree. All it takes is a few moments, those moments which can buy us more time on this Earth than money can. Sign Petitions to close down factories destroying our Earth for unnecessary buildings and stealing precious moments of our time on this Earth.

Inspire those around you. Social Media is one of the most powerful platforms out there, use it to promote sustainability! Use it to promote healthy habits. Let's come together and save the Earth. In fact, Celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Greta Thunberg actively fight for our planet, let’s follow their footsteps and save our planet. Together, let's restore our planet's beauty for not only the sake of ourselves but for the sake of our children and grandchildren. Because in the end, “Trees are the lungs of our planet”
